Exciting Fighting Game Updates from Combo Breaker 2026, Including Tekken 8’s Baki Crossover
While EVO often steals the spotlight, Combo Breaker stands tall as one of North America’s premier fighting game tournaments each year. This time around, players battled it out in titles like Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and Invincible Vs, while developers seized the opportunity to unveil exciting new content.
The standout announcement was the reveal of Yujiro Hanma from Baki as a guest fighter for Tekken 8’s upcoming season. His inclusion feels like a perfect match for the Tekken universe, not just due to his fighting prowess but also because the father-son dynamics in Baki echo the familial conflicts that are a hallmark of Tekken.
Yujiro’s announcement trailer, however, doesn’t showcase any gameplay, as he won’t be joining Tekken 8 until “early 2027.” Alongside him, Season 3 will also introduce fighters Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr., as well as the Subsea Lockdown stage and the Aurora Outfit Pack.
In other news, SNK dropped a gameplay trailer for Mr. Karate, the next fighter set to join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves on May 27. Originally the final boss of Art of Fighting in 1992, Mr. Karate is a title held by various characters, and in this iteration, he appears to be Robert Garcia, a familiar face from both Art of Fighting and The King of Fighters series.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game also made waves with the introduction of the fiery and electrifying Azula. A trailer showcasing her bending abilities was released, and with the game launching on July 2, many are eager to take control of Azula after seeing her in action.
Riot Games confirmed that League of Legends champion Senna will be the next addition to 2XKO, with a gameplay trailer set to drop on June 2, just ahead of her arrival on June 9.
While Capcom didn’t unveil a new character for Street Fighter 6 during the event, they did share a trailer that highlights the new challenger screens coming with Ingrid’s launch on May 28.
