CD Projekt CEO Promises Major Expansion for The Witcher 3 DLC
Executives at CD Projekt have shared exciting new insights about the upcoming expansion, *Songs of the Past*, for *The Witcher 3*, slated for release in 2027. If you’ve been itching to dive back into the world of Geralt of Rivia, this DLC promises to offer plenty of content to keep you engaged. The details emerged during a recent financial earnings call.
Co-CEO Michał Nowakowski mentioned, “In terms of scope, I’d say it’s actually a bit closer to *Blood and Wine*, but that’s quite subjective. It really depends on your playstyle. However, we’re definitely crafting a substantial expansion, and that’s the key takeaway.”
The *Blood and Wine* expansion from 2016 typically takes players between 25 and 40 hours to complete, suggesting that *Songs of the Past* will deliver a similarly rich experience. Nowakowski clarified that this DLC won’t serve as a direct setup for *The Witcher 4*, which currently lacks a release date, but aims to reacquaint fans with the franchise’s universe.
“Our primary goal is to provide an exceptional experience for fans—a fantastic expansion that will make players excited to return to *The Witcher 3* setting,” Nowakowski stated. “While it does serve as a reminder of the franchise, it’s not a literal prologue for *Witcher 4*.”
Additionally, Nowakowski revealed that the company had originally intended to launch the *Witcher 3* expansion this year but decided to push it back to 2027 to ensure top-notch quality. “We, along with the development team, concluded that launching in 2027 would yield the best possible outcome for players,” he explained.
*The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past* is set to launch next year on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
