Acer Unveils Linux Handheld for Streaming PC Games

The Acer Nitro Blaze Link may operate on Linux, but it’s not in the same league as the Steam Deck. Acer describes it as a “streaming-first handheld and companion device,” akin to a PlayStation Portal tailored for PC users. Unveiled at Computex, it’s set to launch in Q4 2026, featuring a 7-inch (1920 x 1200) display, Wi-Fi 6, a mere 1GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and 8GB of eMMC storage. This RAM is barely enough to run Stardew Valley, but the Blaze Link isn’t designed for local gaming.

A few years back, Logitech introduced a similar device, the Logitech G Cloud, priced at $350, which came with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, running on Android. It struggled to find its footing at that price point, especially since its performance hinged on a reliable internet connection.

While Acer hasn’t revealed the price for the Nitro Blaze Link yet, its specifications hint that it could be much more affordable than traditional handheld gaming PCs, which have seen significant price increases, potentially making it a budget-friendly streaming option.
