Microsoft hints at upcoming Surface devices, signaling a transformative shift in PC technology.
I was thinking recently about the future of Microsoft’s Surface PC lineup, and it seems we’re on the verge of some exciting announcements. Pavan Davuluri, who leads Windows and Surface, has hinted that “something new is coming for developers,” sharing a cryptic image that appears to show a curved display edge.
Davuluri clarified that this upcoming reveal is “not a new OS version,” which means we can rule out any talk of Windows 12 making an appearance at the upcoming Build developer conference. In a related note, the Windows account on X also dropped a mysterious tweet, hinting at “a new era of PC” with coordinates that lead to Computex in Taipei.
There are whispers that Nvidia is gearing up to re-enter the Windows on Arm market with its new chips, the N1 and N1X. I mentioned recently that a collaboration between Microsoft and Nvidia on these chips could be a smart move, and it’s possible that Microsoft is hinting at the announcement of these Nvidia chips along with new Surface hardware designed to support them.
Nvidia is also stirring the pot with its own hardware teasers; the company recently shared a post about a “new era of PC,” which included coordinates pointing to Taipei as well.
We’re set to learn a lot more during Nvidia’s Computex keynote on Sunday, May 31st, followed by Microsoft’s Build keynote on Tuesday, June 2nd. Stay tuned for updates!
