Crimson Desert developers announce upcoming DLC in sneak peek of future updates.

Although not classified as a live-service title, *Crimson Desert* has consistently rolled out content updates since its launch in March. Notable additions include April’s patch, which introduced new pets and expanded storage, and May’s update that brought a fresh minigame. Recently, the developer shared insights on what the game’s 5 million players can anticipate in the coming months.

The studio also confirmed that downloadable content (DLC) is in the works, though specifics remain under wraps. “We are diligently developing an upcoming DLC for *Crimson Desert*, and while we can’t disclose details just yet, we aim to make it a significant enhancement to your adventure. More information will be shared soon, so stay tuned,” the studio stated.

Looking ahead to content updates from June to September, the focus will be on narrative enhancements. The game’s story, characters, and dialogue have been identified as areas needing improvement, and it appears the developer is taking this feedback seriously. “To enhance the narrative flow of Kliff’s journey and make it more engaging, we are refining key scenes for better coherence. We hope these changes will provide something fresh, even for those who have already explored Pywel,” the studio mentioned.

Future updates will also introduce “new combat-focused content,” although details on this are still forthcoming. Cross-save functionality will be implemented, allowing players to share their progress across platforms. Additionally, Re-Blockade will enter a new phase, gameplay for Damiane and Oongka will be adjusted, and various quality-of-life improvements will be made. As these features are still in development, the studio notes that they may change. No specific release date has been announced for the next major update.

*Crimson Desert* launched in March amid significant anticipation. Players have embraced it, with around 57,000 “Very Positive” reviews on Steam, while critics have expressed mixed feelings. “After hours of disappointments, I’m tired of waiting for the fun to start. To me, an all right character system and occasionally challenging boss battles aren’t enough to make *Crimson Desert* worth playing,” one outlet remarked in their early impressions. Despite the mixed critical reception, *Crimson Desert* remains a contender in the Game of the Year discussions.

Can the next patch finally address the gaps?
