Marvel Fans Left Disappointed as Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Reveal is Just a Coffee Tease

It seems Marvel fans are caught in a GTA6-like hype loop, eagerly anticipating an Avengers: Doomsday trailer that isn’t coming. Enthusiasts were hoping that directors Anthony and Joe Russo would unveil a trailer for their highly anticipated crossover film during their appearance at SXSW London, but the “surprise” turned out to be a pop-up shop featuring Doctor Doom-themed coffee.

The excitement kicked off when Donald Mustard, co-creator of Fortnite and now part of the Russo brothers’ entertainment company, teased an appearance at SXSW London. He mentioned a “surprise” set for 2 p.m. local time and shared a London address. The Russo brothers also dropped hints on social media, including a Doctor Doom symbol on their Instagram.

Fans rushed to speculate whether this could be the long-awaited first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday. However, it appears the buzz was all about a collaboration between a local shop and Marvel, where attendees could grab “Dom Latveria coffee,” a nod to Doctor Doom’s fictional homeland.

The Russo brothers made their way to the coffee shop shortly after the surprise announcement.

While it would have been unusual for Marvel to debut the first official trailer for Doomsday at a London event—especially with Spider-Man: Brand New Day just a month away and San Diego Comic Con on the horizon—there’s still ample time for Marvel to promote the film without overshadowing Brand New Day’s marketing. Regardless, as long as fans are eager for a trailer, they’ll keep hoping for one. Even with this latest letdown, that enthusiasm isn’t likely to fade anytime soon.
