Intense Wolverine Gameplay Trailer Unveils Jean Grey as a New Combatant

Today’s State of Play kicked off with an explosive reveal, showcasing a mission from the highly anticipated Wolverine, Insomniac’s next major action title for the PS5. This gameplay debut also introduced us to Jean Grey, a fellow mutant from the X-Men universe. Mark your calendars for September 15, as this game will be a PS5 exclusive.

The new footage is packed with intense action and plenty of bloodshed. Insomniac confirmed that other notable mutants, including Mystique and Sabertooth, will also make appearances in the game.

In the mission featured during the presentation, Wolverine battles his way into a heavily guarded facility where young mutants are being taken, presumably to a grim fate. To rescue them, he unleashes a flurry of brutal attacks, delivering gruesome kills that would definitely make Spider-Man cringe. It’s clear this game is taking a much darker tone compared to Insomniac’s previous Spider-Man titles.

Jean Grey later joins the fray, using her powers to assist Wolverine, who hops on a slick motorcycle and channels his inner adventurer, racing to save the young mutants. When he finally reaches them, one asks if he’s a superhero. Logan’s response? “No, I’m Wolverine,” before he leaps back into action against a horde of enemies. He’s definitely up for the challenge.

Insomniac has reiterated that Wolverine will be a single-player action-adventure experience, so don’t expect any co-op features. Additionally, it seems Wolverine won’t be making his way to PC, as Sony has reportedly halted the porting of its single-player games to other platforms.

Wolverine is set to launch on PS5 and PS5 Pro on September 15.
