Control Resonant Sets an Imminent Release Date
Remedy Entertainment has unveiled a fresh glimpse of Control Resonant during a recent showcase. Set to launch on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on September 24, the latest trailer introduces us to Dylan Faden, who finds himself in a rather uncomfortable situation inside a plexiglass prison cell at the Federal Bureau of Control.
Dylan’s abilities are both a blessing and a curse; while they’ve led to his confinement, they also make him the only one capable of confronting a new, mysterious resonance threatening Manhattan. The trailer hints at this duality, showcasing the tension as an FBC agent bluntly tells Dylan, “You’re not FBC, you’re not even fucking human.” It’s a harsh remark for someone tasked with saving the world, but bureaucratic insensitivity is par for the course.
In Control Resonant, Sean Durrie reprises his role as Dylan, who has spent years under the FBC’s control. Now, as a supernatural crisis unfolds, he’s thrust into action against a cosmic entity that’s warping reality itself. Dylan must harness his newfound powers to combat the various threats overwhelming Manhattan while also searching for his sister, Jesse Faden, the FBC Director. His journey involves unlocking the full potential of his abilities to understand and contain the chaos spilling out from the Oldest House.
At a preview event earlier this year, Remedy’s creative director Mikael Kasurinen shared insights into the game’s direction. Unlike the first Control, which focused on isolation within the Oldest House, the sequel aims to “turn things upside down” by allowing players to explore a warped version of Manhattan. This shift means that while enemies can manipulate reality, Dylan can manipulate gravity to gain the upper hand.
Control Resonant takes a different approach compared to its 2019 predecessor. While both games share a brutalist aesthetic, surreal atmosphere, quirky humor, and striking lighting, Control Resonant leans more into the action RPG genre. It features extensive progression and customization options, enabling players to craft a unique playstyle around various special abilities and Dylan’s shapeshifting weapon, the Aberrant.
Preorders for the game are now available at $59.99, with the standard edition offering some enticing items. The Deluxe Edition, priced at $69.99, includes additional bonus content.
Mark your calendars: Control Resonant launches on September 24 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
