Netflix unveils intriguing new series from the creators of Scavengers Reign.

Fans of the quirky animated series Scavengers Reign and Common Side Effects have something to celebrate: Joe Bennet and Green Street Pictures are teaming up to create a new adult-oriented cartoon for Netflix titled Dealies. This workplace comedy centers around a big box superstore and promises to deliver the same offbeat charm that fans have come to love.

The logline teases, “A savant salesman. A gentle gladiator. A quiet virtuoso. A summoner of the divine. And the poor soul who hired them. All part of the staff at DEALIES, a big box store. They are masters of the delicate alchemy of trade. Prophets of enterprise. And occasionally they do some actual work.”

Bennet and Ted Travelstead will take the reins as showrunners, writers, and executive producers, with Lisa Mierke, Alex Plapinger, James Merrill, Sean Buckelew, and Benjy Brooke also on board as executive producers. Green Street Pictures, co-founded by Bennet in 2020, has previously collaborated with notable talents like Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, the minds behind King of the Hill.

While details about Dealies are still sparse, aside from a teaser image and the creative team, the art style appears to echo the unique aesthetic of Green Street Pictures’ earlier project, Common Side Effects. That series cleverly blended critiques of the pharmaceutical industry with sharp humor, creating a psychedelic experience that aired on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim and has been renewed for a second season.

Prior to Common Side Effects, Joe Bennet and Green Street Pictures worked on Scavengers Reign, a sci-fi series that embraced alien oddities. It captivated audiences with its show-don’t-tell storytelling, gradually unveiling the sometimes unsettling, sometimes stunning flora and fauna of planet Vesta. Although it was canceled after just one season on Max and later moved to Netflix without a renewal—much to the dismay of fans who appreciate quality content—it’s encouraging to see Green Street Pictures continue to push the envelope with smart animated projects that challenge both narrative and visual norms.

It stands out as one of the most visually stunning animated series of the year.
