Mastering Fast Travel in Gothic Remake: A Quick Guide
Unlocking fast travel in Gothic Remake is likely to become a top priority once you start feeling the fatigue of repeatedly trekking to the Swamp Camp. While there are alternative methods for quicker movement, like riding the Scavenger mount, true instantaneous fast travel requires a bit of effort to obtain.
Fortunately, Gothic Remake does feature a proper fast travel system, avoiding the lengthy cart rides filled with cyclops encounters that you might find in other games.
To get started, unlocking fast travel is linked to your progress in the main story quests. You won’t receive the Swamp Camp fast travel rune—the first teleportation item—until you reach the beginning of Chapter 3. This requires completing several quests related to the Swamp Camp storyline. It’s worth noting that you don’t need to join the Swamp Camp; other factions will direct you there to complete these quests.
Finish Chapter 2 and its final quest, which involves exploring the Orc Cemetery. Once Chapter 3 kicks off, Cor Angar will hand you the Swamp Camp teleport rune. It can be a bit frustrating that you only gain access to fast travel after completing a series of Swamp Camp quests, but that’s the way it goes.
In Chapter 3, you’ll also unlock the New Camp teleport rune from Saturas when you visit the Water Mages. Personally, I had to return to the Old Camp, where I was a member, and speak to Raven. He directed me to Diego, who then asked me to visit the Water Mages as part of the Water Mages’ Plan quest. I haven’t unlocked the Old Camp teleport rune yet, but since Torrez doesn’t sell it, I suspect it will also come from progressing through the main quests.
Using a teleport rune is straightforward; treat it like any other spell rune. Just place it in your hotbar, select it, and spend some mana to teleport.
