Find Your Way: Map Locations for The Colony and Old Camp in Gothic Remake
Navigating the world of Gothic Remake can be a challenge, especially without a compass to guide you. If you want a map, you’ll need to spend some of your hard-earned ore nuggets to get one. While it won’t highlight key NPCs or locations, it provides a solid overview of your surroundings, whether you’re in a place like the Old Camp or venturing into the broader colony.
You can also mark points of interest on the map yourself, which is handy for keeping track of important spots as you explore. Here’s how to snag a map in Gothic 1 Remake, along with a tip for getting it at a better price and whether you really need to buy every map available.
Once you reach the Old Camp, you have two options for purchasing a map. Graham, the map maker, offers both a Colony map and an Old Camp map, covering the larger world and the settlement, respectively. However, you can get the Colony map for a cheaper price from Dexter in the market area.
Graham’s shack is conveniently located next to the north gate, where you first enter the Old Camp. You can find him wandering around during the day or near the cooking cauldron—he’s the one with a short black beard and a receding hairline, dressed in standard digger attire.
Dexter is situated on the south side of the Old Camp in the market area. He sells the Colony map for 24 ore nuggets, which is a much better deal compared to Graham’s price of 44. I highly recommend purchasing Dexter’s map. You can also buy the Old Camp map from Graham for 35 ore nuggets, but honestly, it’s a small area with just a few shacks around a castle, and you’ll quickly learn where everything is.
Later in the game, you can buy additional maps that mark specific locations on your Colony map, such as during the Test of Faith quest for Diego, which takes you to the old mine. However, I don’t think these are worth the ore since you can easily remember important locations by their visual indicators on the map or by placing your own markers.
