Alien Isolation 2 Makes a Splash at Summer Game Fest
Get ready to face xenomorphs once more, as Alien Isolation 2 is officially in the works. During the recent Summer Game Fest, we got our first glimpse of this highly anticipated sequel. It will be available on PS5, Xbox, Steam, and the Switch 2, though a release date has yet to be revealed.
The trailer immerses us in a fog-covered colony world, with a narrator speaking in Japanese to an unseen character. They discuss last chances and the unforgiving nature of “the company,” likely referring to Weyland-Yutani. Amanda Ripley, the protagonist from the first game, responds with an understanding tone. The visuals shift to a writhing alien spine, broken ventilation shafts, and the iconic creature’s menacing maw, culminating in a chilling scream that leads us to the title card.
While details are sparse, it appears the game will unfold on a remote colony planet, offering more expansive environments compared to the confined spaceship setting of the original. This aligns with the evolution seen in the Alien franchise: the first film took place entirely in space, while its sequel explored a colony overrun by xenomorphs.
The original Alien Isolation debuted in 2014 to positive reviews, which have only grown more appreciative over time. Fans praise the xenomorph’s cunning intelligence and the game’s relentless atmosphere, while some critics found it a bit too oppressive. After a long wait, Creative Assembly recently teased a sequel. Although we don’t have a release window yet, it’s exciting to know that a follow-up to one of the most intense gaming experiences is on the horizon.
