Stellar Blade Returns with Fresh Gameplay and Familiar Physics

Shift Up has just dropped the new trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to Stellar Blade, titled Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, and it’s got that signature flair we’ve come to expect.

Whenever a fresh cinematic rolls out during events like the Summer Game Fest or Game Awards without any prior hints, it’s always a thrill to play the guessing game. At the start of the Stellar Blade: Blood Rain trailer, I was completely thrown off. The stunning, hyper-realistic visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5 were unmistakable, but the cyberpunk vibe left me wondering if this was a reveal for something like Final Fantasy VII or an entirely new title. The appearance of some grotesque monsters hinted at a horror experience akin to The Medium, but as the combat kicked in, the heavy melee strikes and impactful kicks felt reminiscent of Tekken.

All my theories went out the window when I got the one clue that mattered: the main character, a young woman with rosy cheeks, shed her heavy cloak, and let’s just say her movements were quite memorable. Yep, that’s definitely a Stellar Blade game. While there’s no release date for Blood Rain just yet, if it follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, we can expect a dazzling array of outfits.
