Guild Wars 3 is Here at Last!

Guild Wars 3 is officially on the way!

That’s right, the beloved franchise is gearing up for its third installment, as revealed during Summer Game Fest. It’s set to launch on Steam and PS5 in the future, with a beta kicking off in fall 2027. Keep an eye on the official website for registration details to snag a spot in the beta when it opens up.

Details about Guild Wars 3 are still under wraps, but we know it will be another MMORPG set in the enchanting world of Tyria. ArenaNet’s studio head, Colin Johanson, mentioned that the new game will emphasize the “joy of movement” and introduce a “completely new type of MMO experience” in combat. While the specifics are still a mystery, the focus on movement mechanics, which were a highlight in Guild Wars 2, hints at some exciting innovations.

Guild Wars 2 has been thriving since its launch in August 2012, making it a perfect time for a new version. Over the years, it has received six expansions: Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire, End of Dragons, Secrets of the Obscure, Janthir Wilds, and Visions of Eternity. Although it hasn’t quite reached the same heights as World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy XIV, Guild Wars 2 has enjoyed a solid and successful run for over a decade, consistently receiving positive reviews and, thankfully, no monthly subscription fees.

Honestly, this might just pull me back into the Guild Wars universe when the time comes. I usually stick to one MMORPG at a time, and World of Warcraft is my go-to, but I have a soft spot for the Sylvari, the dynamic combat of Guild Wars 2, and the beautiful world of Tyria. With 2027 still a ways off, I might just be able to clear my schedule!
