Godzilla Stands Tall as GTA 6’s November Release Date Surfaces Again
Grand Theft Auto VI has cast a long shadow over the gaming landscape, making it tough for other major titles to find a release window in November 2026. However, one unexpected contender is stepping up: a remaster of the cult classic 2002 GameCube fighting game. Recent leaks suggest that Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee will make its debut just a couple of weeks prior, giving players something else to dive into that month.
According to a leak from a reliable source, this unannounced remaster is set to launch on November 3 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2. Developed by Pipeworks and published by Atari, it promises a host of new features, including an online multiplayer mode, enhanced graphics, revamped unlock systems, and additional single-player story content.
For those unfamiliar with Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, it’s a chaotic brawler where players wreak havoc in retro-futuristic cities, battling other monsters while trying to save (and simultaneously destroy) Earth. It holds a special place in the hearts of those who played it at friends’ houses or rented it from video stores, and it even received a nomination for fighting game of the year, though it ultimately lost to Tekken 4.
A recent post on a community forum asked, “Name one bad thing about Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee?” The top response was simply, “That it’s not remastered yet.” Clearly, the demand for a revival is strong.
The remaster’s timing is particularly bold, as it’s set to launch in the same month as Grand Theft Auto VI, a game that has made other publishers hesitant to release their titles nearby. The only other game daring to enter this crowded space is Gothic 3 Classic, which is scheduled for November 24, just days after GTA VI’s November 19 release.
Will Godzilla help break the dam and encourage other notable games to announce November release dates? Or will Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee end up scaring them off even more?
