Xbox Unveils Plans for New Hardware Launch in 2026

A fresh special edition of the Xbox Series X was unveiled during the recent showcase, and it’s sure to resonate with nostalgic gamers from the Millennial generation. The Xbox Series X25 marks 25 years of Xbox with a design that pays homage to the past.

This edition draws inspiration from a green, Halo-themed variant of the original Xbox, featuring a translucent design reminiscent of classic hardware like the beloved Game Boy Advance, all while showcasing Xbox’s signature green hue. The accompanying trailer even showcases gameplay from Halo: Campaign Evolved, making it feel like 2001 is back in action.

“The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition honors our legacy, combining the power and performance of the Xbox Series X with 1 TB of storage, all wrapped in a design that reflects our journey and the community that has supported us,” a recent announcement stated.

Alongside the console, a special translucent green controller was revealed, featuring ABXY buttons that echo the color scheme of the original Xbox controller. One bumper is white, while the other is black, serving as a nod to the classic black and white buttons of the original design.

The Xbox Series X25 will come bundled with this controller, which will also be available for separate purchase. Both will launch in November, although an exact release date hasn’t been provided yet. Pricing details remain under wraps, but more information on costs and preorder options is anticipated soon.

This new Xbox Series X edition arrives amid a trend of rising hardware prices. As of September 2025, the Xbox Series X is priced at $599.99 for the digital edition and $649.99 for the standard edition. Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 prices have also seen an increase, and Nintendo is set to raise the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 in September.

Here’s what we know, what we think we know, and what remains uncertain.
