This newly revealed game combines the charm of Kiki’s Delivery Service with the adventure of Porco Rosso.

Summer Game Fest is buzzing with exciting game announcements. Titles like God of War: Laufey, Stellar Blade, and Blood Rain are stealing the spotlight, but there are also plenty of indie gems making their debut at events like Day of the Devs and Wholesome Direct. One game that Studio Ghibli enthusiasts should definitely keep on their radar is Into the Wind.

Unveiled during The PC Gaming Show, Into the Wind offers a charming Ghibli-inspired experience that blends the entrepreneurial spirit of Kiki’s Delivery Service with the aerial adventures of Porco Rosso. The protagonist’s careful balancing act while delivering packages even echoes the mechanics found in Death Stranding.

But what sets Into the Wind apart is its unique feature: a sentient motorcycle that can transform into an airplane. Seriously, I can’t wait to dive into this game!

In Into the Wind, you step into the shoes of a young man who inherits his uncle’s delivery business after his mysterious disappearance. Your journey involves tracking down your uncle while managing deliveries, battling pirates, and dodging cows on the road.

The sentient vehicle, Ermes, is designed to feel both tactile and arcade-like, as described in the game’s Steam listing. “Cargo has weight, and fuel matters. Roads, shortcuts, weather, wind, and bad landings are all part of the journey.” Players will have the opportunity to customize Ermes, their character, and even their home.

Currently, there’s no set release date for Into the Wind. When it does launch, it will enter Steam Early Access. The developer, Bloom & Gloom Games, a small team of 10, anticipates that the game will remain in early access for at least a year. No other platforms have been confirmed yet.

What a refreshing yet nostalgic experience this promises to be!
