Your Guide to Watching Nintendo Direct 2026 and What’s in Store
A fresh Nintendo Direct is set to kick off the summer gaming season on June 9, promising a lineup of announcements, reveal trailers, and hopefully some exciting new gameplay footage from both Nintendo and third-party developers. Even though it arrives a bit late after events like Summer Game Fest and Day of the Devs, expectations are high for significant reveals, particularly for new or returning titles in the Mario and Zelda franchises.
With confirmed release dates of July 2 and July 23, respectively, Rhythm Heaven Groove and Splatoon Raiders are likely to feature new trailers during the Direct. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, which was announced in late 2025 and is slated for a 2026 release, is also expected to reveal its release date. The Duskbloods, a title from FromSoftware set for 2026, might share a similar fate.
Following the surprise announcement in early May, there’s a strong possibility we’ll catch a glimpse of gameplay for Star Fox, launching on June 25 for the Switch 2, although this might be saved for the Nintendo Treehouse: Live presentation.
Rumors, primarily from a well-known Nintendo leaker, suggest we could see a new 3D Mario game, which would be fitting as Super Mario Odyssey nears its ninth anniversary, along with a new Wario Land title and a new Switch Sports game. There’s also talk of a definitive edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for the Switch 2. However, if these games are indeed in development, they might be held back for the September Nintendo Direct.
While Nintendo hasn’t officially confirmed any upcoming livestream announcements, there are strong whispers about an Ocarina of Time remake potentially being part of the lineup—if true, it could be the grand finale of the show.
You can catch the Nintendo Direct live on Tuesday, June 9, on the official Nintendo YouTube channel, starting at 7 a.m. PDT / 10 a.m. EDT / 4 p.m. CEST.
The livestream will run for about 50 minutes, followed by a 95-minute Nintendo Treehouse: Live presentation featuring deeper gameplay showcases and developer interviews.
