The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is set to be remade for the Switch 2.
Nintendo has revealed a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time during its recent Direct presentation, set to launch in 2026 for the Nintendo Switch 2. More information will be shared in the future.
This remake marks the first significant entry in the franchise since 2024’s Echoes of Wisdom, which featured Princess Zelda as the main character. Echoes followed 2023’s Tears of the Kingdom, a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild, both of which received enhanced versions for the Switch 2 alongside the console’s release last year. Additionally, in November, Nintendo introduced the hack-and-slash game Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.
In a move reminiscent of its approach with Super Mario, Nintendo is also exploring opportunities to expand the Zelda franchise beyond gaming, with a live-action movie scheduled to premiere on April 30, 2027. Last year, the company teased a few images showcasing actors Bo Bragason (Zelda) and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Link) in costume, hinting that the film will draw inspiration from games like Breath of the Wild and Twilight Princess.
