Solo Leveling Season 3 Release Window Disappoints Fans

One of the most talked-about anime in recent years, Solo Leveling, currently has an unconfirmed release window for its eagerly awaited third season. According to a recent earnings report from D&C Media, the company behind the Solo Leveling IP, there may have been a slip regarding the anime’s future.

An automated translation of the earnings document mentions, “Anime Season 3 confirmed (expected 2027–2028).” This could be exciting news for fans, especially with Anime Expo 2026 just around the corner, where an official announcement might be made. However, if the information from D&C Media is accurate, it suggests that progress on season 3 of Solo Leveling isn’t moving as swiftly as fans would like.

The first season of Solo Leveling premiered in January 2024, followed by the second season exactly a year later. This quick turnaround is impressive for the anime industry, where studios often juggle multiple projects, leading to delays. A-1 Pictures, the studio behind Solo Leveling, has only released two films (one co-produced) since the second season aired in January 2025, which had fans hopeful that the studio was focusing its efforts on the third season.

However, the projected release window of “2027-2028” likely indicates that little to no work has been done on Solo Leveling season 3. A-1 Pictures has three other anime projects lined up for 2026 and 2027, meaning they will be occupied with various commitments. If Solo Leveling season 3 does indeed release in 2028, it would mark a three-year gap since the last installment, highlighting that the rapid pace of the first two seasons was more of an exception than the rule.

For now, this remains speculation. Fans should keep an eye on Anime Expo 2026 from July 2-5, as it could be the ideal venue for any updates on Solo Leveling. In the meantime, viewers can check out Overgeared, a new anime based on a webcomic illustrated by the same studio that brought Solo Leveling to life, Redice.
