Deezer Introduces AI Music Detection Tool for Streaming Platforms
Deezer is stepping up its game by scanning playlists from various streaming services to identify AI-generated music. As a pioneer among major streaming platforms, Deezer was the first to label AI-generated tracks and even offered its technology to others, though interest has been limited. While Qobuz has developed its own detection system, Apple and Spotify have chosen a more hands-off approach with voluntary tagging.
Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier stated, “No other company has followed our lead yet, so we decided to make it possible for everyone to check if their playlists include synthetic music, no matter which streaming platform they use.” With limited uptake for its AI detection tech licensing, Deezer is now making it accessible to all users.
To use the feature, simply head to Deezer’s AI music detector site, select your streaming service, and allow Deezer to access your playlists. The tool supports 20 platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube Music. Deezer will import your playlists—likely utilizing Tune My Music, which it already employs for users transitioning from other services—and scan for AI-generated content. You’ll be notified of any findings and can choose to share the results.
