Game Shifts Release from Busy September to Even Busier October to Steer Clear of GTA 6

As you may know, a significant wave of video game releases is set to hit just before the arrival of Grand Theft Auto 6 in November. It was always a long shot that every title aiming for that window would actually make it, and now we’ve seen our first delay. Valor Mortis has shifted from September to… the already packed month of October. Interesting choice.

On June 11, the official Valor Mortis social media account revealed that the decision to push back the launch of this first-person action game to October 13 was due to a “stacked” September.

“September has become absolutely packed with incredible-looking games,” the studio tweeted. “We knew this could happen, but when you’re part of a Partner Showcase, dates get locked in weeks ahead. We want to give Valor Mortis (and your wallet) some breathing room. So, we’ve decided to move our release date to October 13th.”

In a follow-up, the team shared a gif from Valor Mortis showing a character getting attacked and humorously added: “Live footage of us trying to find a clear release date in Fall 2026.” It’s a tough landscape out there.

The studio also noted that Valor Mortis, a historical soulslike featuring zombie-like foes and Napoleon, now has a demo available on Steam for players to check out ahead of the new October release. But let’s be real, October isn’t looking much better.

Here’s a rundown of the games launching just before and after Valor Mortis hits on October 13:

It’s still a chaotic situation. Here’s hoping that some of these titles reconsider and either delay their launches or push them to later in the year or even next year. Get ready for more delays and a game of release-date musical chairs as we approach GTA 6, and publishers start to realize the crowded landscape they’re stepping into.
