Streamline Your Screenshot Management Efforts
Hey there, gamers! Welcome to Installer No. 132, your go-to source for the coolest and quirkiest finds in the gaming universe. If you’re new here, welcome aboard! You can catch up on all the previous editions at the Installer homepage.
This week, I’m gearing up for a month of minimal productivity thanks to the World Cup. I’ve been diving into some fascinating reads about Steven Spielberg, wearables, and the Boeing 747, all while indulging in a nostalgia trip courtesy of The Virtual OS Museum. I’ve also been replaying that epic Knicks game winner, tuning into the fantastic new This Was SportsCenter podcast, and tackling my overflowing inbox with Avec. Progress is… moderate.
I’ve got some exciting picks for you this week, including a potential summer movie hit, a fresh way to enjoy a classic show, a portable camera and mouse that are worth checking out, and more. Let’s dive in!
The Drop
* Pool. I’m convinced that the concept of “take a bunch of screenshots and let AI make sense of it” is a game-changer for computer interfaces. Pool, now out of beta, embodies this idea perfectly — it allows you to bookmark and interact with anything on your screen, even sorting through your old screenshots for a nostalgic blast.
* Disclosure Day. Spielberg directing an alien flick is usually a win! The trailer had me a bit anxious, but the reviews are mostly positive. Even the less favorable ones say, “It’s fun, but it’s just a Spielberg alien movie,” which is exactly what I’m after.
* Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. This iconic show for kids is finally available on YouTube. The channel is brand new but already features clips, full episodes, and livestreams. My toddler’s YouTube lineup is set for a while!
* The Logitech Mobi Fold. If you’re on the go and need a portable mouse, this $80 option could be a solid upgrade. It’s compact, offers useful customization, and I’m intrigued by its touchpad design instead of a traditional scroll wheel. I’m eager to try it with my travel iPad setup.
* Claude Fable 5. Setting aside my mixed feelings about Anthropic releasing a model they previously deemed too risky, I’m genuinely impressed with Fable’s capabilities. It’s a fantastic tool for vibe coding. Use it now before it starts costing extra in nine days!
* The Insta360 Luna Ultra. This gimbal camera is like the luxury model of its kind. With dual lenses, enhanced processing, a clever detachable screen/remote, and more, it’s priced at $769, which is steep for me, but likely worth it for many creators.
* Incorruptible by Eric Ries. Ries’ previous book, The Lean Startup, is a staple in tech offices. His new release poses a crucial question: Can you achieve success without sacrificing your morals? Ries believes it’s possible, and I hope he’s right.
* Bluesky group chats. It seems the Twitter-style, feed-based social media era is winding down, which is a positive shift. Bluesky is smart to embrace this change, and I love the idea of creating smaller spaces for conversation beyond one-on-one chats. If you add me to a group, I promise to keep my meme-sharing to a minimum.
* The Boox Go 6 Gen II. This device is Boox’s most Kindle-like offering yet, featuring new note-taking capabilities, various color options, and access to all your Android apps. I’d be all in if it didn’t run on a six-year-old version of Android, but I’m still curious to give it a try.
* NotebookLM. Google’s research tool continues to impress, and the upgrade to Gemini 3.5 enhances its intelligence and presentation options. As a way to upload and query various websites, documents, and PDFs, NotebookLM is hard to beat.
Screen share
This week’s big news was WWDC, Apple’s annual developer conference, where they unveiled key software updates for the year. This edition focused heavily on AI: a revamped Siri that’s performing well, some intriguing yet slightly unsettling generative image editing features, and a plethora of Apple Intelligence enhancements. There’s a lot to test, and developers have their work cut out for them to adapt to these changes.
One feature that’s already transforming my phone usage is the new widgets. Specifically, the massive, full-page widgets that Apple now supports. As soon as I started experimenting with them, I completely redesigned my home screen, creating a layout with a page of apps alongside a scrolling set of giant widgets. I’m loving it and wanted to share:
I’ve spent ages trying to find a way to view everything I have going on — my calendar, tasks, weather, and more — at a glance. These large widgets feel refreshingly uncluttered, and I can see myself ending up with a hundred pages of them.
If you’re as excited about giant widgets as I am, here are a couple of quick notes. First, it’s probably best not to install developer betas on your main device; while iOS 27 has been stable for me, it’s definitely impacting battery life. Also, many apps don’t yet support these large widgets and won’t for a few months as developers adapt. Lastly, while these widgets are sizable, they don’t quite fill the entire screen, which might be a minor aesthetic annoyance for some.
Still, while widgets may not be the standout feature of iOS 27, or even the one that most alters how you use your phone (that would be Siri), I’m all for any feature that provides more information without needing to open apps. Big widgets do just that.

“My kids and I *love* the new Bluey game, Bluey’s Quest for the Gold Pen. The story is engaging for them, and it’s a fantastic introduction to platform mechanics for kids. Plus, there’s basically no way to ‘die’ or lose items, so the stress level is super low (unlike when they watch me struggle in Breath of the Wild…)” — Craig
“Animal Kingdom on Netflix. Can’t believe I waited so long to watch it.” — Justin
“Might be too late, but I just downloaded Mosaic a few weeks back and absolutely love it. It’s the perfect app for baseball scores/news/info. Still in beta but so good.”
“The indie web is alive and thriving. Bubbles is another attempt to highlight blogs you can follow. Built on the fediverse, RSS, and web mentions.” — Renganathan
“I’m obsessed with the Mood.camera app. It recreates film photography, and I hardly use the built-in camera app on my iPhone anymore. It’s a blast creating my own presets or trying out those shared by others on the Mood subreddit.” — Tom
“Playing the final update to Destiny 2, it’s been the end of a 12-year era! Bittersweet, but it’s a fitting sendoff for a game that had so much potential.” — Nikki
“I’ve been really into the Teenage Engineering x Kanye West collab — a tiny stem player for ‘Jesus is King’ called SP-1 that was mostly unreleased. Some clever folks on Reddit and a group called Solderless figured out how to wipe the Kanye album and load new audio tracks. You can snag it for under $50, and it’s a blast!” — Spencer
“The new Skrillex album, Soma, is incredible. It might be his best work yet. Just dance banger after banger; I can’t get enough!” — Óli
“I recently started my summer college semester and wanted to ditch the laptop, but I still enjoy taking notes. I decided to bring my iPad mini back into action and found this nifty device called the Nillkin Cube Pocket Foldable. It folds into a pocket-sized square, is super lightweight, and feels great to type on when I want to jot down notes in Obsidian. Plus, gesture swipes work on it, which is a nice bonus when I’m navigating through apps I refuse to close.” — Brandon
Signing off
I’ve mentioned Widow’s Bay in this newsletter a few times, but it keeps coming up as a favorite in my inbox. Every time I ask for recommendations, it’s the most popular response. I should probably stop talking about it, but I wholeheartedly agree with you all. It’s easily my favorite show of the year so far, with a premise that shouldn’t work but somehow keeps getting better.
The season finale is this week, and the show has just been renewed for a second season. I can’t stress this enough: GO WATCH WIDOW’S BAY. It’s something special, and we all need to discuss the finale when it drops.
Catch you next week!
