Resident Evil Veronica Steals the Show at Summer Game Fest
Among the games unveiled recently at showcases from Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, and Summer Game Fest, Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil Veronica is standing out as the fan favorite.
The latest newsletter from GameDiscoverGo highlighted the most wishlisted games on Steam following their announcements, with Resident Evil Veronica taking the lead at an impressive 803,000 wishlists. This figure surpasses the interest in ArenaNet’s Guild Wars 3, which garnered 496,000 wishlists, and Panache Digital Games’ 1666: Amsterdam, with 494,000, placing them in second and third, respectively.
But the buzz around Resident Evil Veronica doesn’t stop there. Data shared by The Game Business from marketing analytics firm LevelUp indicates that it ranks as the third top-performing game based on trailer performance, community engagement, and media coverage, trailing only behind first-party console exclusives like the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and God of War: Laufey.
When it comes to announcements for AAA third-party titles, Resident Evil Veronica clearly leads the pack. Several factors likely contributed to its success, including its position as the first reveal during the main Summer Game Fest showcase, ensuring it was on the radar of viewers right from the start.
Additionally, the recent launch of Resident Evil Requiem has been a hit, becoming one of the best-reviewed games of 2026. This has undoubtedly fueled interest in the future of the Resident Evil franchise, especially since Capcom kept details about the new game relatively under wraps during its initial announcement. However, sources indicate that it will be a third-person action game treated as a mainline entry in the series.
Resident Evil Veronica is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X sometime in 2027.
