Jackery unveils the thinnest battery for portable fridges.
Jackery is entering the fridge-battery market with what it claims is the “world’s slimmest” option. The FridgeGuard stands out with its sleek design, a refreshing change from the bulky power stations that usually look more suited for construction sites than home environments.
At just 2.63 inches (67mm) thick, the Jackery FridgeGuard power station is designed to fit neatly on top of, beside, or behind your refrigerator. It features a quick 10ms UPS switchover to kick in automatically during power outages. With a solid 800W of AC output (1600W peak) and a 1kWh LFP battery, it can keep a typical US fridge/freezer combo running for about 10 hours—extendable to 20 hours with an additional 1kWh expansion battery. Jackery notes that its cooling fans operate at a quiet 40dB, similar to the sound level of a standard fridge.
While it’s primarily designed for refrigerators, the FridgeGuard can also be used in other settings, such as a bedroom to power a CPAP machine during blackouts, or in the living room to keep essential devices like a game console and TV running until power is restored.
The FridgeGuard adds to a growing lineup of slim batteries aimed at preventing food spoilage during outages. It follows in the footsteps of early entrants like Biolite, which is set to ship in August, as well as competitors like Bluetti and newer brands like Pila.
Initially, the FridgeGuard will be available exclusively at Costco in the US, launching on June 22nd, with a price tag of $559.99 for members.
