GTA 6 Release Date: Latest Updates from Rockstar
The next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series has been a long time coming. Grand Theft Auto V has been around for over a decade, crossing three console generations and selling an impressive 230 million copies, largely thanks to the enduring appeal of Grand Theft Auto Online. After much anticipation, Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch in November 2026.
Fans of the franchise know that release dates can shift, and some were hoping for a fall 2025 launch, as Rockstar initially aimed for a 2025 debut for this new crime saga set in Vice City. With the release date now firmly in sight, especially after the delays of other highly anticipated titles, it’s crucial to keep an eye on any updates from Rockstar regarding GTA VI.
According to the latest from Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. The game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, though a PC version has yet to be confirmed, and the pricing details remain under wraps.
Rockstar has postponed GTA VI twice, but the November 19 date now seems solid. Pre-orders are set to open on June 25, and players can add the game to their wishlists on PS5 and Xbox Series X. At this stage, further delays would be a significant setback for Rockstar.
Initially, GTA VI was expected to drop in fall 2025, prompting some developers to adjust their release schedules to avoid competition. However, in May 2025, just days before a new trailer was set to debut, Rockstar announced a delay, pushing the release to May 2026. This was followed by another delay, moving the launch to November 2026.
“We apologize for the additional wait, but these extra months will help us deliver the level of polish you expect and deserve,” Rockstar stated when announcing the second delay. “We appreciate your patience and support. While the wait is longer, we are incredibly excited for players to explore the vast state of Leonida and return to modern-day Vice City.”
As of now, there are no updates from Rockstar regarding the future of the immensely popular GTA Online or whether it will launch alongside the main campaign of GTA VI.
While anything is possible, there are currently no concerning signs. Take-Two’s CEO expressed strong confidence in the May 2026 release date back in August 2025, but circumstances have changed since then.
Rockstar is known for its commitment to quality and is promoting GTA VI as “the largest game launch in history,” anticipating millions of players on day one. With so much at stake, a successful launch is crucial, especially considering the rocky debut of Cyberpunk 2077.
Historically, Rockstar has delayed major titles, including Grand Theft Auto IV, GTA V, and Red Dead Redemption 2. It wouldn’t be surprising if they decided to push GTA VI back further to ensure it meets player expectations.
Amid ongoing speculation, there are whispers that the new Grand Theft Auto could be priced at $100.
