Filming for Season 3 of Fallout Kicks Off with Manny Jacinto and Others Joining the Cast
Fallout is gearing up for some exciting new additions ahead of its third season. Recently, it was revealed that Emily Mortimer, Manny Jacinto, and Thomasin McKenzie will be joining the cast, adding some serious talent to the lineup.
They’ll be joining Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, Aaron Moten, and Kyle MacLachlan, with Aaron Paul also set to appear in season 3. Filming for the upcoming season kicks off in Los Angeles this month.
So far, the adaptation of Fallout on Prime Video has proven to be a hit, with the first season amassing over 100 million views by October 2024. This debut season earned 17 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Goggins. The second season received generally positive feedback, though some viewers noted issues with its storytelling. Season 3 was greenlit back in May 2025, even before the second season aired.
For those unfamiliar with the show, it follows Lucy, a naive vault dweller portrayed by Purnell, as she navigates a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles in search of her father, played by MacLachlan. Along her journey, she encounters The Ghoul, a former Hollywood actor turned near-immortal gunslinger, and crosses paths with the Brotherhood of Steel, a group known for their technofascist tendencies.
Currently, the Fallout franchise is being sustained by an unexpected duo: the initially criticized live-service game Fallout 76 and the Amazon series. Bethesda Softworks, the driving force behind the video game series, has been focused on developing The Elder Scrolls 6 for what feels like an eternity, leaving the next mainline Fallout game in limbo. This situation reflects a common issue in AAA game development, where high expectations for graphical quality can lead to prolonged production cycles.
With Microsoft, Bethesda’s parent company, preparing for significant layoffs and studio closures, the future of Fallout remains uncertain. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has expressed a desire to accelerate development on both The Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises, but the specifics of that plan are still unclear. Even with potential support from additional studios, it seems likely that the next Fallout installment is still several years away.
This isn’t the New Vegas we wanted or deserved.
