First Poster for Pokémon Stop-Motion Series Evokes A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Aesthetic

On the opening day of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Aardman and The Pokémon Company unveiled new details about *Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu*, along with the first poster for this stop-motion animated series.

Originally announced in 2024, *Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu* received its first teaser in 2025. During the festival, attendees were treated to footage from the pilot episode. Aardman and The Pokémon Company confirmed that the series will take place in Galar, the region featured in *Pokémon Sword and Shield*, where Sirfetch’d made its debut. This setting is particularly fitting, as Galar draws inspiration from the United Kingdom, aligning perfectly with Aardman’s British roots. The essence of this British charm is evident in the initial poster.

The duo of Sirfetch’d and Pichu on the poster even evokes memories of promotional art for *A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms*, though this series promises to be far more family-friendly than that *Game of Thrones* spin-off.

Sarah Cox, Aardman’s chief creative director, shared in a press release that the show will focus on “comedic storytelling that celebrates the quirks, eccentricities, and charms of our heroes as they explore Galar on a delightfully offbeat quest.” Given that Sirfetch’d appears to be about to walk off a cliff in the poster, this description seems spot on.

An official synopsis provided in the release gives further insight into the storyline. Sirfetch’d and Pichu are set to team up to protect Pokémon in the wilds of Galar. “Their missions rarely go as planned, but their noble deeds forge their friendship as they step bravely into the unknown,” the synopsis hints. “Peril, alliances and rivalries, extraordinary Pokémon, and endless laughs await them.”

*Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu* is slated for release in 2027. As a huge fan of both Pokémon and Aardman’s stop-motion creations, I’m eagerly anticipating its debut, even though the streaming platform for its release has yet to be announced.
