A new Powerpuff Girls movie is on the way from Warner Bros. Animation.

A new animated film featuring the Powerpuff Girls is currently in the works, as revealed by Warner Bros. Pictures Animation during a presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Details are scarce at this point, and inquiries for more information have been made.

The beloved trio—Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup—first appeared in 1998 with the original animated series, which ran for six seasons on Cartoon Network. They also starred in a theatrical film, The Powerpuff Girls Movie, released in 2002.

While the series saw a reboot in 2016, it failed to resonate with fans and critics, despite running for three seasons. Critics noted that the reboot fell short in terms of gender representation, contrasting it with the original series, which was celebrated for its diverse portrayal of characters.

In 2020, The CW initiated a live-action reboot, but it was scrapped in 2023 before a pilot could air. This version would have depicted the Powerpuff Girls as young adults, having left their crime-fighting days behind, only to reunite to save the world once more. A leaked trailer in 2025 resembled a parody, suggesting that the cancellation might have been for the best.

The upcoming film isn’t the only revival in progress. In 2022, another reboot was announced with the franchise’s original creator, Craig McCracken, involved, but updates on that project have been minimal since then.
