GTA VI Reveals Its Price at Last
The price for Grand Theft Auto VI has finally been revealed: $79.99 for the standard edition, while the Ultimate Edition will cost $99.99. Preorders kick off at midnight local time, allowing you to secure a copy for PS5 or Xbox Series X/S. Both digital and physical editions will be available, but even the physical copies will include “a download code inside the box.” The good news is that these will ship starting November 12th, enabling players to preload the game ahead of its official release on November 19th.
Anyone who preorders or buys the game before November 20th will receive the Vintage Vice City Pack, a nostalgic nod to 2002’s GTA: Vice City. This pack features a ’55 Vapid Stanier sedan, a garage, themed outfits and hairstyles, plus a weapon skin. Digital preorders also come with a complimentary month of Rockstar’s GTA Plus subscription. The Ultimate Edition offers additional digital content unlocked throughout the game, including vehicles, weapons, outfits, tattoos, and access to exclusive in-game stores.
Leading up to this announcement, there was considerable speculation about GTA VI’s pricing. The gaming landscape has seen a steady increase in costs over the past year, with both console and game prices rising, such as Nintendo’s adjustment of some Switch 2 game prices to $69 or even $79.
The anticipation for GTA VI has been building for over a decade since the release of GTA V, and its launch date has been pushed back a few times. It’s expected to be the standout title of the year, prompting other games to schedule their releases to steer clear of its launch.
Over the past year, fans have been gradually fed details about GTA VI, including the recent reveal of its official cover art. The initial trailers introduced us to the game’s protagonists, Jason and Lucia, along with glimpses of the main storyline set in Vice City.
