New Tease for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Drops Ahead of Major Reveal Next Week

Get ready for another round of intense action and emotional turmoil, as we’re set to catch our first glimpse of *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2* on June 29.

This sequel to the 2023 anime was revealed back in July 2025 and will feature a fresh storyline with a new cast of characters, largely due to the fates of the originals. The upcoming teaser promises to introduce us to this new team. Like its predecessor, the series is set in the same universe as *Cyberpunk 2077*. Here’s the initial description of the new series:

It offers a standalone 10-episode narrative from the *Cyberpunk 2077* universe—a gritty tale of redemption and revenge.

In a world dazzled by spectacle, what lengths must you go to for your story to resonate?

Fortunately, many of the creative minds behind the first season are returning. Studio Trigger, known for its high-energy animation in *Kill La Kill* and *Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt*, will once again handle the animation. Kai Ikarashi, who worked on *Edgerunners*, will step in as director, taking over from studio founder Hiroyuki Imaishi. Writers Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka are back, along with Ichigo Kanno, who will serve as the lead character designer.

Looking back, *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners* played a crucial role in revitalizing the previously criticized *Cyberpunk 2077*, drawing players back into its world and boosting game sales. The anime combined striking animation with poignant storytelling, following a group of outlaws navigating the harsh realities of Night City. It garnered praise from both fans and critics for its visuals, character development, worldbuilding, and soundtrack.

Since its release, characters from *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners* have appeared in various crossovers. The fighting game *Guilty Gear Strive* welcomed Lucy as a guest character, while *Wuthering Waves* added both Lucy and Rebecca. Additionally, the series has inspired an ongoing prequel manga, *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness*, published in paperback.
