Regal Pikachu and new Legendary Pokémon set to debut in the free MOBA this summer.

Pokémon Unite is gearing up to celebrate its fifth anniversary this July, and The Pokémon Company is marking the occasion by introducing four Legendary Pokémon to the free-to-play MOBA. Yveltal, Palkia, Reshiram, and Solgaleo will be rolled out gradually over July and August. Additionally, players can look forward to Regal Style: Pikachu as the highlight of the upcoming Battle Pass.

Kicking things off, Yveltal, the mascot from Pokémon Y, will make its debut on July 3. Following closely will be Palkia, the face of Pokémon Pearl and its remake, arriving on July 17. Reshiram from Pokémon Black will join the fray on August 7, and finally, Solgaleo from Pokémon Sun will complete the Legendary lineup on August 21. To unlock each Legendary Pokémon’s Unite license, players will need to engage in their respective events.

As is common in many online free-to-play titles, Pokémon Unite offers rewards through Battle Passes that refresh with each game Season, typically lasting around a month. Season 43 is set to kick off on July 1, featuring Regal Style: Pikachu as a reward, likely exclusive to those who opt for the Premium Pass. Each Season’s Battle Pass showcases a unique Pokémon style, such as Season 18’s Pokébuki Style: Tyranitar and Season 41’s Dryad Style: Espeon.

In Pokémon Unite, players engage in strategic battles with two teams of five, leveling up their chosen Pokémon by defeating wild creatures and evolving them throughout the match.

Since its launch in July 2021, Pokémon Unite has received a mixed reception. Many players have praised its depth, with some noting, “What lies behind all the ‘cute Pokémon stuff’ is a fleshed-out MOBA that rewards players who dive headfirst into the game,” despite some concerns regarding in-game purchases and grind. You can download Pokémon Unite for free on Nintendo Switch, as well as on Android and iOS devices.
