Excited to Tackle Giant Snow Beasts in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen!
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is set to receive DLC in October, and we got an exciting sneak peek at what’s in store. Expect fresh customization options, new abilities, some “improvements” to the Dragonsplague (not sure about that one), and an entirely new region to explore. But what really has me hyped?
Climbing onto some brand new colossal monsters and delivering some serious headshots.
Monster climbing has always been a core feature of Dragon’s Dogma, dating back to the original game. Unless you’re rolling with a mage (like I did for most of my first run, whoops), the best way to take down a troll, gryphon, drake, or any other massive foe is to dart around to its back, scale up, and start swinging away. It’s even more exhilarating when the enemy has wings, as they can take off with you clinging on, turning the battle into a thrilling aerial showdown—just be careful not to get tossed halfway across the map!
In Dark Arisen 2, we’re promised even more giants to climb, like this yeti creature. Is it just a fluffier troll with bigger tusks? Sure. Am I still pumped to climb it? Absolutely!
I’m really hoping for some genuinely new enemies as well. From what we’ve seen, many of the newcomers seem to be reskinned versions of old foes, albeit with some cool ice abilities. That’s understandable—game development is a tough and lengthy process, and I’m more than happy to scale the fuzzy troll or the slightly different-colored drake. However, a couple of fresh creatures with unique features to climb on would really elevate this DLC for me. Especially since I’ve become more comfortable with melee classes. And hey, if there’s a chance for some kind of magic melee spell to blast into a yeti’s brain, I wouldn’t say no!
