Get ready for the surprise Pokémon 30th anniversary merchandise!
The Pokémon franchise is marking its 30th anniversary with a variety of exciting merchandise, including special card sets and a Game Boy music player. While many of these items are enjoyable, they don’t come as a huge surprise. However, in late June, the company unveiled a unique addition to its anniversary collection: carry-on bags.
These bags function just as you’d expect, available in three colors that represent the classic starter elements. A standout feature is the outer shells, which showcase 30 years of starter Pokémon—like Charmander and Litten on the red bag, and Squirtle and Popplio on the blue one. Inside, the bags are soft and come with dividers to help organize your gear, featuring vibrant images of the same starters. The zippers are designed like Poké Balls, and there’s a handy side hook for attaching smaller items.
While these details are sure to attract many Pokémon enthusiasts, the real highlight is a small window near the top of each bag, designed to display your favorite plushies. It’s an adorable way to travel.
The Pokémon Center offers a vast selection of plushies, including a new set themed around Pokopia. The Sitting Pokémon Cuties line is particularly well-suited for these bags.
Unfortunately, the bags are currently only available in Japan. As is often the case, Japan seems to get the best Pokémon merchandise. Even if importing a bag isn’t on your agenda, these items are so impressive that any Pokémon fan would appreciate them—or perhaps feel a twinge of envy.
At least we can still look forward to snagging those coveted 30th-anniversary Pokémon cards!
Gotta logo ’em all!
