Netflix Confirms Release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 This Fall
Netflix, Studio Trigger, and CD Projekt Red have officially announced that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the acclaimed 2022 anime, is set to release this fall.
The announcement for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 was first made at Anime Expo last year, and the series’ social media channels have been dropping hints again this week. Recently, new characters have been revealed in the series’ promotional artwork, leading up to the full reveal on June 28, when the official Edgerunners account confirmed a fall 2026 release window.
If you caught the first season of Edgerunners, you know that survival was a rare feat for its characters. This time around, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will introduce a fresh lineup, including a vengeful Snake Nation Netrunner named D, a young cinephile and documentarian called Roman Carax, Maelstrom gang member Taila Yang, and an Edgerunner known as Weak Kingsley.
While this new cast may face the challenge of reaching the iconic status of Lucy and David, it will be exciting to see how Studio Trigger aims to elevate their storytelling in Edgerunners 2. The original series was a standout, with reviews highlighting its innovative and visually stunning representation of in-game concepts.
Edgerunners has remained relevant in gaming culture through various crossovers. Characters from the series have appeared in Cyberpunk 2077, Lucy made a guest appearance in Guilty Gear Strive, and a collaboration with Wuthering Waves is currently underway. It will be interesting to see if the upcoming season features similar crossovers with other games and media.
When it debuts in fall 2026, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will be available for streaming exclusively on Netflix, just like its predecessor.
