Exciting Announcement Trailer Released for Upcoming Fantasy Anime, The Bugle Call

Fantasy enthusiasts have something exciting to look forward to. A new anime adaptation of the manga *The Bugle Call: Song of War*, created by Mozuku Sora and Higoro Tōmori, is set to premiere in 2027, courtesy of a newly established studio. The announcement was accompanied by a striking key visual and a teaser trailer that highlights the series’ musical score.

*The Bugle Call: Song of War* debuted in 2022 in a popular magazine and has since been compiled into 13 volumes. After a brief hiatus, it will return in July. The series has garnered acclaim for its stunning artwork and engaging narrative, even receiving praise from renowned creator Makoto Yukimura, known for *Vinland Saga* and *Planetes*. The English publisher describes the story as follows:

A young bugler with supernatural powers is swept up into an epic struggle for the fate of the world. Cry havoc and sound the song of war!

Set in Arboral Year 1294, the world is ruled by nine colossal towers known as the Spires—remnants of a lost civilization filled with ancient secrets and powerful knowledge that nations vie to control. Luca, a bugler in a mercenary company, dreams of leaving the battlefield behind to pursue his passion for music. However, marked as one of the mysterious Branch-hexed and gifted with the unique ability to visualize the sound of his instrument, Luca finds himself reluctantly pulled into a monumental conflict.

The production team includes Shinya Watada, known for the music-centric series *Rock is a Lady’s Modesty*, as director; Hitomi Koto, composer of *Sparks of Tomorrow*; Michihiro Tsuchiya, who has worked on *Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood* and *Akane Banashi*, handling series composition; character design by Michinori Chiba, recognized for *Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-blooded Orphans*; and key animation by Hiroshi Arisawa, who contributed to *Attack on Titan* and *Planetes*. This marks the inaugural anime project from the new studio.

In recent years, fans have been treated to beautifully crafted adaptations of fantasy manga like *Witch Hat Atelier*, *Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End*, and *Delicious in Dungeon*. The success of these titles has demonstrated a strong demand for sword fights and spellcasting without the typical isekai elements, alongside lesser-known gems like *Sentenced to Be a Hero* and *Ranking of Kings*. With any luck, *The Bugle Call* will be a fantastic addition to this growing list.

Find refuge in these cozy, fantastical worlds.
