Netflix Incorporates AI-Generated Gene Wilder Voice for Willy Wonka Reality Show

A new teaser trailer has revealed that Wonka’s The Golden Ticket is set to debut on Netflix on September 23rd, following the trend of turning fictional scenarios into real-life competitions, much like the Squid Game reality show. The trailer showcases authentic sets rather than AI-generated fakes, although the voiceover is produced by AI technology.

Reports indicate that Netflix collaborated with ElevenLabs, an AI audio company, to create the voiceover, with approval from Wilder’s family. This project builds on Netflix’s ongoing partnership with the Roald Dahl company established in 2021 and is distinct from the animated feature Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory, which is slated for release in 2027.

Regarding the show, Netflix describes it as a “high-stakes social experiment” featuring 12 “lucky” golden ticket winners and their chosen partners. The competition will culminate in a two-part finale on September 30th, where only one champion will emerge victorious after a week of challenges.
