Mario Kart World Update Expands Knockout Tour Features
Mario Kart World, the flagship title for the Nintendo Switch 2 that many players have thanks to its inclusion with consoles at launch, has just rolled out a fresh update.
Version 1.7.0 introduces some exciting new features, particularly two new routes for the Knockout Tour mode. This mode is a unique experience where players race through a continuous series of six tracks, rather than separate events. Throughout the race, there are five checkpoints, and if you find yourself in the bottom four at any of these points, you’re out.
The new routes, Drill Rally and Boomerang Rally, add some variety to the Knockout Tour. Drill Rally links Wario Shipyard to Bowser’s Castle, while Boomerang Rally connects Salty Salty Speedway to Whistlestop Summit. Both routes are accessible to players who have completed at least one Knockout Tour rally.
When Knockout Tour first launched, reactions were mixed. While the concept is solid, many players noted that the connecting stretches of road tend to be quite straight, limiting the skill involved during those segments. Overtaking primarily relies on power-ups. However, feedback on social media has been largely positive, with many players expressing excitement over the new content.
In addition to the new routes, update 1.7.0 also enhances photo mode by allowing players to add stickers directly while taking pictures, which can be paired with frames for a personalized touch.
Update 1.7.0 is now live for Mario Kart World on the Nintendo Switch 2.
