Kingdom: Come Deliverance is set to launch as a deckbuilding board game this year.
Video game adaptations are gaining traction in the tabletop gaming scene, mirroring their popularity in film. Titles like Elden Ring, Slay the Spire, and Final Fantasy 7 have successfully transitioned into board games, and now Czech Games has announced an exciting new project: a board game based on Warhorse Studio’s role-playing game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance – The Board Game is currently available for pre-order, with shipping expected in Q1 2027. Early prototype images of this adaptation are already making the rounds.
The quality of these adaptations can vary significantly, often depending on how well designers can convert single-player video game experiences into engaging multiplayer board games that require players to manage various mechanics. Unfortunately, many adaptations fall short, focusing more on flashy art or miniatures rather than delivering a compelling gameplay experience. However, Czech Games is taking this project seriously by enlisting two renowned designers. Tomáš Holek, known for the strategy game SETI, which won a prestigious award at the SPIEL Essen 2025 board game fair, and Vlaada Chvátil, who received the game of the year award in 2016 for his popular party game Codenames and designed the classic civilization-building game Through the Ages.
Set in Medieval Bohemia, Kingdom Come: Deliverance – The Board Game allows players to start as commoners and carve their own paths to influence the world around them. During setup, players will select from major storylines tied to the three cities they will explore, impacting how these narratives unfold based on their problem-solving approaches. The game also features numerous side quests that provide resources and experience to enhance character development, aiming to replicate the feel of an open-world video game while ensuring each playthrough is unique.
Gameplay revolves around building a deck to conduct skill tests, emphasizing player choice as you select equipment and prioritize skills such as hunting, fighting, and stealing. Similar to SETI or Through the Ages, this game requires a significant time investment, with solo sessions taking around 90 minutes and multiplayer games lasting up to six hours with four players. The price tag is steep at $199.99 (€149.99), but the hope is that it delivers an epic experience worthy of the commitment.
For those looking to enhance their experience further, Czech Games is offering a $49.99 upgrade that includes 75 metal coins inspired by the real-life silver groschen, the currency used in medieval Europe.
