The top Switch 2 case I’ve tested comes at a surprisingly low price.
Dbrand has had its share of missteps, like the recent launch of the Steam Machine Companion Cube shell, but it’s also making a strong case for the Nintendo Switch 2, which is currently on sale. The Killswitch 2 stands out with its superior build quality compared to other options, securely wrapping around the back and edges of the console. It features Joy-Con slip covers that enhance grip and comfort, making the controllers feel bulkier and more ergonomic. The “Travel” bundle, which includes a hard cover with a bungee strap to protect the screen and space for 10 cartridges, is priced at $69.99 from Dbrand or $71.99 at a retailer, down from the usual $80.
The Killswitch 2 is an excellent choice for those who want to maintain the console’s hybrid functionality, allowing for seamless transitions between handheld and docked modes. It comes with a USB-C dock adapter for connecting the console to a TV. While it may not be the tidiest solution for your entertainment setup, it’s currently the best option available for a clean adapter experience.
Other noteworthy deals include:
* A fantastic offer on Acer’s 27-inch 1440p QD-OLED gaming monitor, now priced at $314.99, down from $549.99. This monitor delivers exceptional contrast and the fastest response times, featuring a 240Hz refresh rate, two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, and two HDMI 2.1 ports. It also has a height-adjustable stand with swivel and pivot capabilities, plus built-in speakers, though their quality may not impress. Acer backs this monitor with a three-year warranty against burn-in under normal use. It shares specs with the $349.99 Alienware AW2726DM, which I personally prefer for its sleeker design.
* The Criterion Collection is offering a half-off sale on movies at various retailers, ending July 26th. This means 4K Blu-rays are available for $24.99, with some exclusions like box sets and select titles (Seven Samurai is still a great deal at $29.99). Several preorders are also eligible for discounts, though not for the upcoming K-Pop Demon Hunters releasing in December. Standard Blu-rays are down to $19.98, with similar exclusions. These sales are rare, making it a prime time to stock up your collection.
* For those who occasionally use grocery delivery services, there’s a nice discount on Instacart gift cards at a retailer. You can grab a $50 gift card for just $45, giving you a little extra for tipping your delivery person. Just remember to add the gift card through the Instacart site before shopping. Note that there seems to be a limit of one discounted gift card per account.
