Persona 5 Mobile to Introduce Highly Anticipated Feature from Persona 3 Reload
Atlus is finally introducing the female protagonist from Persona 3 Portable into a modern Persona game, but it’s not the title fans were anticipating. While she was notably missing from the 2024 remake, Persona 3 Reload, she will make her debut in an upcoming collaboration with the mobile game Persona 5: The Phantom X.
The announcement came through the official channels for Persona 5: The Phantom X, confirming that this collaboration is indeed happening. However, specifics regarding the availability of the character, who will be known as Kotone Shiomi, have yet to be revealed.
Released in June 2025, Persona 5: The Phantom X is a mobile gacha RPG set in the same universe as the broader Persona 5 series. It features a fresh cast of characters who unlock new abilities and navigate palaces within a twisted reality known as the Metaverse. The game mirrors the main series’ gameplay loop, balancing dungeon exploration with real-life responsibilities like school and part-time jobs. As a gacha title, a significant aspect of the game involves collecting resources, either through in-game or real-world currency, to “pull” for new characters. The current roster includes original characters for P5X, familiar faces from the Persona franchise, and crossover characters like vocaloid Hatsune Miku.
Kotone Shiomi first appeared in Persona 3 Portable, the handheld version of the RPG that launched in 2009 for the PlayStation Portable. Her distinct writing and approach to various situations set her apart from the male protagonist, earning her a dedicated fanbase. Although Persona 3 Reload did not include her, as Atlus indicated that the remake would focus solely on content from the original Persona 3, some elements from P3P, like the Aigis social link, were incorporated. Additionally, Atlus released the “Episode Aigis” DLC, which reimagined the FES-exclusive epilogue, “The Answer.” The absence of the female protagonist remains a notable gap in Reload, but she will now be featured in Persona 5: The Phantom X.
Persona 5: The Phantom X is available on Android, iOS, and Windows PC.
