I just got my hands on the Trump phone!

Where’s the Trump phone? We’re going to keep discussing it every week. After a long wait, our phones have finally arrived.

It’s been 12 months, 16 days, 21 hours, and 54 minutes since I first heard about the Trump Mobile T1 Phone 8002 (gold version), and now I’m finally holding one in my hands. Yes, I said phones—three of them, to be exact. We ordered two, paid for two, and somehow received three, all sent to the wrong address. You can’t beat that kind of service.

My phone came with a complimentary Trump Mobile SIM card, even though I haven’t signed up for their mobile plan, along with a quick start guide printed on a standard office printer. Inside the box, there’s a SIM tool, a clear plastic case, a 33W charger, and a gold-and-black braided USB-C cable that feels surprisingly cheap. There’s also a tiny booklet with instructions covering everything from setup to making calls or taking photos. It seems this phone isn’t aimed at the tech-savvy crowd.

As for the phone itself, my first impression is that it’s oddly tacky. The gold plastic back has a slightly sticky sheen and has already collected dust and fingerprints within just a couple of hours. To top it off, there’s a tiny scratch on one corner that was there before I even unboxed it.

The setup process went fairly smoothly at first. It restored all my usual apps from my Google backup alongside the preinstalled Truth Social app. It claims to have the latest February Android security update, and unlike some reviews, my fingerprint sensor is working just fine. However, I’m based in the UK, and so far, the Trump phone isn’t cooperating with my British SIM card. I can make calls, but it won’t connect to LTE or 5G. I’ll need to figure out if this phone is strictly for American users.
