Studio Trigger is busy with more than just Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
There’s a ton of excitement surrounding Studio Trigger’s upcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, but that’s just one of the projects brewing at the studio. We also have updates on when to expect more of Delicious in Dungeon, along with news that some of Trigger’s top creators are diving into a new venture.
Following the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 this fall, the second season of Delicious in Dungeon is set to premiere in October 2027. The first season of this anime was a hit when it dropped on Netflix in 2024, with many praising it as “a great D&D-flavored hangout show, one that insists on filling its dank, monster-filled halls with good vibes and sitcom quirks.”
Teaser visuals for the upcoming season were revealed by Trigger during a panel and on social media. Unlike Edgerunners 2, Delicious in Dungeon will continue to follow the same characters as the story progresses.
While Delicious in Dungeon and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are among Trigger’s recent successes, they aren’t the titles that initially put the studio on the map. That honor goes to the anime series Kill la Kill and the film Promare, both crafted by director Hiroyuki Imaishi and writer Kazuki Nakashima. Although it’s been a while since they’ve collaborated on something new, Trigger confirmed at Anime Expo that the duo is back together on a new project.
Details about this new endeavor are scarce, but Imaishi and Nakashima shared some insights in a video. Nakashima mentioned that the script for the upcoming project is finished, and Imaishi is currently working on the storyboards. They framed this project as a culmination of their careers and past collaborations.
While we await more information on Imaishi and Nakashima’s new project, we can look forward to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 this fall and the second season of Delicious in Dungeon in October 2027.
