Meccha Chameleon Surpasses Mario Kart World Sales in Under a Month
Meccha Chameleon, the trending hide-and-seek game where players blend into their surroundings by painting themselves the same color, has achieved an impressive 15 million sales in just 25 days.
The game’s solo developer, lemorion_1224, shared the news on Sunday via Meccha Chameleon’s Steam page, expressing gratitude with, “We hit 15 million in sales! Thanks a million!” They also teased an upcoming collaboration with a well-known Japanese star next week.
The game’s popularity skyrocketed quickly, selling two million copies within the first week of its June 10 launch. Since then, it has continued to break records, with analysts from Alinea Insight noting it as the best-selling game of 2026 so far, significantly outpacing titles like Resident Evil Requiem, Forza Horizon 6, and Slay the Spire 2, each around 7 million copies sold.
Meccha Chameleon has even outperformed some major hits from 2025; for instance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has sold about 8 million copies, while the flagship Mario Kart World for Switch 2 stands at 14.7 million according to Nintendo’s latest figures. Its success mirrors that of last year’s popular titles on Steam, such as REPO and Peak.
The game’s affordable price point has certainly contributed to its sales—retailing at $5.99 and launching with a discount of $4.99—yet it has still generated substantial revenue for lemorion_1224, estimated between $75 million and $90 million.
Despite its simple visuals, Meccha Chameleon offers engaging social gameplay that has attracted a large player base on Steam. On Saturday, it recorded 216,145 concurrent players, placing it within the top 10 on the platform. However, it has already surpassed its peak of 340,534 players reached in the first two weeks and is now experiencing a gradual decline.
The development of Meccha Chameleon took lemorion_1224 just two months, although the concept has been in the works for years. No hiding from this success now.
