iRobot Unveils Its Latest Non-Robotic Floor Cleaner

iRobot has unveiled its first-ever manual floor cleaner, the Roomba Electro Plus, priced at $399. This 5-in-1 hard-floor cleaner offers vacuuming, mopping, and disinfecting capabilities, but requires hands-on operation. Alongside this launch, the company has refreshed its Roomba robot vacuum lineup with five new models that boast enhanced suction power, more compact designs, and reduced prices, effectively replacing the previous models introduced in 2025.

The Electro Plus is tailored specifically for hard floors and resembles the latest manual wet-dry cleaners from brands like Dreame and Roborock. What sets it apart is its ability to transform regular tap water into a powerful disinfectant through an electrolyzing process, making it safe for both kids and pets.

This cordless vacuum/mop features a self-cleaning roller mop and a motor that assists in movement, minimizing the physical effort needed. Its charging dock not only cleans and dries the mop using hot water and air but also requires users to drain, clean, and refill the water tank.

iRobot claims the Electro Plus addresses customer demands for a quick and effective cleaning solution. According to Adam Pope, the company’s chief engineer and vice president, it allows users to sanitize areas like bathrooms and kitchens while letting the Roombas handle the rest of the home.

The standout innovation of the Electro Plus is its elimination of the need for separate cleaning solutions. Instead, it utilizes technology from iRobot’s parent company, Picea, which converts tap water into a commercial-grade sanitizing solution that can eliminate 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other germs.

Picea, which previously acted as iRobot’s original design manufacturer, acquired the company this year after its bankruptcy. The two had collaborated on the lidar-based Roomba models launched in 2025.

In addition to the Electro Plus, iRobot has introduced five new Roomba robot vacuums for the US market. These models, initially revealed in Europe in May, are mostly incremental upgrades with significant price reductions.

The flagship Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + Auto Wash Dock ($999.99) enhances the Roomba Max 705 Combo ($1,299.99) with increased suction power (30,000Pa), hot-water mop washing, and hot-water stain cleaning capabilities.

The Roomba Max 715 Vacuum Robot + Auto Empty Dock ($699.99) updates the Roomba Max 705 ($899.99) with improved suction power, now at 30,000Pa from 13,000Pa, and a lower price point. Both models feature Roomba’s signature dual rubber roller brushes with anti-tangle technology, along with lidar navigation and AI-powered obstacle detection from their predecessors.

The midrange Roomba Plus 575 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock ($799.99) replaces the Roomba 505 ($999.99) and is nearly half the size, thanks to a new dual-lidar sensor. Adam Pope notes that this technology allows for more compact design without sacrificing functionality. With a height clearance of 9 cm and a narrower width, the 575 is designed to fit under furniture and navigate tight spaces more easily.

This mopping robot vacuum is equipped with dual spinning mop pads, a boost to 20,000Pa suction, hot-water mop washing and drying, and an onboard water tank. It employs a camera for AI-driven obstacle and dirt detection, enabling a Smart Scrub feature that can effectively clean dirty areas. It can also climb over thresholds up to 35mm high.

The Roomba Plus 515 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock ($699.99) shares similar features with the 575 but has lower threshold clearance, slightly reduced suction power, and lacks a camera, meaning it doesn’t have AI-powered obstacle or stain detection.

The Roomba Plus 415 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock ($599.99) replaces the Roomba 405 ($799.99) and includes increased suction power, anti-tangle brush technology, and extendable mops. However, it does not have the onboard water tank found in the 515 and does not utilize hot water for mop cleaning.

The US lineup does not feature the Roomba Plus 615 and Roomba 675 roller mop models, or the entry-level Roomba 115 Combo, which are available in other regions. All new models are available for preorder now.
