Discover All 16 Mayan Stone Locations in Black Flag Resynced

Finding all the Mayan stone locations is one of the key distractions while exploring the Caribbean in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and it remains largely the same as in the original game. You’ll need to solve 16 of these stele to complete the Mayan Mystery task and unlock the Mayan Armour, which is one of the best outfits available. However, similar to the treasure maps, some locations have been rearranged in the remake.

What intrigues me most about the Black Flag remake is the blend of familiar and new elements. Revisiting the game after all these years, now with a fresh coat of paint, has revealed surprises on my journey to achieve 100% open world completion. What I thought I knew inside and out feels fresh again.

While you may have encountered some of these Mayan sculptures before, you must complete the main story mission “This Old Cove” to interact with the stele. James Kidd will explain their mechanics, but essentially, you need to climb to the top of the sculpture, interact with it, rotate the pattern until it aligns with the glowing objects, and then collect the Mayan stone.

To unlock the door guarding the Mayan Armour in Tulum, you need to gather all 16 Mayan stones scattered across the map. You’ll gain access to this after completing the main missions “Nothing is True” and “Overrun and Outnumbered.” This unique outfit now includes a charm that retains its old perk of deflecting projectiles, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of the armour without having to wear the somewhat silly costume.

You can find the stones on the following islands:

Here’s where to locate all 16 Mayan stones along with their coordinates and how to solve them in the remake:

You’ll complete this one during the main story mission “This Old Cove,” so it’s impossible to miss. It’s an easy introduction, but just in case, rotate the overlay so the squares align with the square pillars on the left and top right.

On the northern beach, not far from the warehouse you raided earlier in the main story. Adjust the overlay so the large circle covers the rubble on the left and the oval surrounds the narrow rock.

To reach this one, head up into the mountains from the northernmost synchronization point. Rotate and shrink the overlay so that the largest circle encompasses the bottom pillar, while the two smaller circles surround the top two posts.

This stele is located in the hills in the far southeast of the island, past the warehouse. Rotate it left so that the large circle near the cross on the overlap aligns with the tree, and the two medium-sized circles match the rocks on the far right side.

The first Mayan stele on this island is found on the western beach, with Spanish soldiers stationed above it. Simply rotate it left so the two circles cover the posts at the bottom, and the arches align with the broken arches on the wall.

The second sculpture on this island is situated on the ramparts leading up to the synchronization point in the northeast, next to a treasure map. Rotate it left so that the largest circle aligns with the biggest rock on the left, next to the boat.

This stele is in the northwest of the island, conveniently where the warehouse guard and his muse are conversing. It’s one of the easiest to solve: adjust the overlay so that the four rectangles cover the rocks at the bottom.

There’s only one Mayan stone on this island, down from the two found in the original game, located in the ruins near the center of the occupied island. Rotate it so the thicker, parallel lines connecting two of the circles surround the two pillars at the top.

Next to the synchronization point in the center of the island, simply flip the overlay so that the thicker, parallel lines of the triangle connect the two rocks at the bottom.

This one is on the west side of the island, not far from where you finish the “Overrun and Outnumbered” mission (which follows “Nothing is True”). To solve the puzzle, rotate it almost fully so that the two circles on the same line align with the top and right pillars.

Just up the hill from the plantation’s northern beach, you’ll find another Mayan stele, close to the island’s synchronization point. Solving it is straightforward: rotate the overlay so that the smallest circle is on the rock at the bottom, and the line extends towards the ocean.

There are two Mayan stones available on this island, the first of which is a short walk south of the synchronization point in the northwest. Rotate the grid left to align the rectangle with the collapsed pillar at the top.

The second stele on Pinos Isle is located east of the synchronization point, on the hill overlooking the shipwreck on the shore. Solving it is very simple: rotate it so the rectangle aligns with the wall at the top.

You’ll need to progress through the main story to access Long Bay and reach the Observatory. Once there, the stele is to the left of the main entrance to the Observatory.

You also need to advance the main story to unlock Isla Providencia, which contains the final two Mayan stones. The first stele on the island is in the northernmost temple ruin area, close to the beach where the Jackdaw fast travels to.

The second stele on Isla Providencia is just to the right of the synchronization viewpoint in the southernmost temple.

Once you’ve collected all 16 Mayan stones, return to the locked door back in Tulum, near the beach in the northeast. You’ll encounter a short climbing section in the temple before claiming the Mayan Armour. Additionally, you’ll receive the Yax Tun pendant, which absorbs all gunshots without requiring you to wear the (admittedly, somewhat unattractive) Mayan outfit like in the original game.
