Nintendo’s Talking Flower Now Available at a Lower Price

If you’re someone who enjoys a bit of quirky positivity or has a soft spot for unusual gadgets, the Talking Flower might catch your eye. This playful toy is inspired by a character from Super Mario Bros. Wonder, guiding Mario through levels with its charming and whimsical commentary. Its existence is a bit odd, but then again, this is the same company that brought us Alarmo.

Originally priced at $34.99, the Talking Flower is now available for $29.99 at various retailers.

While the Talking Flower doesn’t offer much in terms of functionality, it does have its own unique charm. Unlike the $110 Alarmo, it won’t wake you up, even though it asks about your bedtime and wake-up time to know when to stay quiet. Instead, it chimes in every hour while you’re awake and shares random thoughts. It can comment on the time of day and even the temperature, thanks to its built-in thermometer. It lacks a microphone and doesn’t connect to the internet, but it does have a button that lets you prompt it to speak whenever you want, rather than waiting for its pre-programmed musings. You can also choose the language it uses, just like in the game.

A colleague had a chance to try out the Talking Flower and described it as a delightful source of whimsy. It occasionally offered reminders to take care of oneself, suggesting moments to relax or grab a lunch break. Many reviews on various platforms reflect a mix of annoyance and affection for the Talking Flower, echoing the character’s charm in Wonder.
