The long-awaited Nopia synth is now nearly complete after years of anticipation.

After making waves in the music gear community in 2023 with the initial reveal of the Nopia, creators Martin Grieco and Rocío Gal are gearing up for its market launch. They recently showcased it for an in-depth preview, announcing that it will be available in “a couple of months” for approximately £550.

The Nopia is designed to explore harmonic interplay in a distinctive manner. Instead of relying on a few knobs and a keyboard to manipulate a single synth patch, it integrates multiple modules—keys, bass, arpeggiator, and pads—into a cohesive performance, reminiscent of a drumless groovebox. It features a one-octave keyboard known as the Chord Builder, a 12-button Tonal Selector, and an Extensions Dial that determines the key and voicing of the chords, allowing you to create intricate harmonies with minimal finger movement.

Additional performance capabilities include a strum plate located in the top-right corner for plucking individual notes from a chord and a slider for bending the pitch of full chords. Alongside its virtual analog and sample-based synth engines, the Nopia offers essential effects like delay, reverb, tape emulation, and beat repeat. It also boasts extensive connectivity options, including per-module MIDI output for controlling other instruments using Nopia’s harmonic engine.
