The creator of Andor unveils a new thriller featuring Pedro Pascal.

One of the standout aspects of Andor is that, alongside being one of the best TV series in recent memory, it’s also steering fans toward Tony Gilroy’s other projects. His upcoming film, Behemoth!, is a music-driven drama featuring fellow Star Wars alum Pedro Pascal. Set for a December release, this film promises to be a gripping mystery rather than a sci-fi adventure.

The first trailer for Behemoth! showcases a frantic Pascal as he navigates a whirlwind of events, reuniting with his brother (Will Arnett), encountering his ex (Olivia Wilde), and developing a relationship with a colleague (Eva Victor). The film’s intense musical backdrop evokes the energy of recent hits like Whiplash.

The trailer describes the story: “A gifted cellist, Alex Serian (Pedro Pascal), returns home to Los Angeles after 20 years on the road. Music, which has been the constant, all-consuming river of his life, begins to carry Alex on an adventure that will change him forever.”

Gilroy is at the helm as director, writer, and producer, collaborating with many familiar faces from Andor. His brother John Gilroy will handle editing and production; Damián García is on cinematography; Sanne Wohlenberg is also producing; and Brandon Roberts is contributing to the score. The soundtrack will feature contributions from eight additional composers, including James Newton Howard and Alan Silvestri. The film was first announced in March 2025.

Behemoth! marks Gilroy’s first project since Andor, the acclaimed Star Wars spinoff that surpassed expectations and became one of the franchise’s finest entries. The series offered rich political narratives and complex characters throughout its concise 24-episode run.

The success of Andor shouldn’t come as a surprise to those familiar with Gilroy’s impressive filmography. For example, Michael Clayton is a similarly intricate thriller that intertwines politics with high-stakes drama. Gilroy is also recognized for his contributions to the Bourne series and for co-writing (and revitalizing) Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. While there may not be an obvious connection between Star Wars fans and those drawn to a Searchlight drama about classical music, it’s hoped that Gilroy’s previous achievements will encourage some to step outside their usual preferences.
