PlayStation’s upcoming fight stick delayed from Marvel Tokon release.

PlayStation was gearing up to launch its exclusive wireless fight stick controller, FlexStrike, alongside Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls in August. However, an unexpected indefinite delay has changed those plans.

Earlier this year, PlayStation announced an August 6 release date for both FlexStrike and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Just weeks before the scheduled launch, an update on the FlexStrike pre-orders revealed that production issues have pushed back the controller’s availability.

“Due to unexpected production delays, the FlexStrike wireless fight stick will launch at a later date. We will share an update soon,” the announcement stated. “We’re committed to providing the best possible experience for our players with FlexStrike, so we’re taking extra time to finalize the product. We apologize for this delay and look forward to delivering the FlexStrike experience to the community upon its release.”

Sony also mentioned that those who pre-ordered the FlexStrike through PlayStation Direct will receive updates on their order status via the online store. Unfortunately, it remains unclear whether pre-order customers will face a wait of just a few weeks or a much longer delay for the controller.

This news is certainly a letdown for fans eager to dive into the first Marvel Comics-themed fighting game in nearly a decade with Sony’s new controller. FlexStrike boasts all the features you’d expect from a high-quality fight stick, along with enhanced compatibility with other DualSense controllers and PlayStation Link audio, making it an attractive option despite its $199.99 price tag. Additionally, it’s not a great look for Sony to stumble on the launch of a physical product like FlexStrike just two weeks after announcing it will stop producing new game discs starting in 2028.

On a brighter note, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is still on track for its August 6 launch on PS5 and Windows PC. An open beta for the game is scheduled to take place from July 24 to July 26.
